NFL Loss 2 Time Pro Bowler—Harrison
On Wednesday, June 3, Rodney Harrison announced his retirement from the limelight. Harrison’s reputation in the league is not as good as he was during his time, he once hold and still holds the record for sack by defense with 30 ½, and 34 interceptions making him the player who holds 30 of each kind. Harrison still holds the name of being the tough hitter and foul player in the League.
Harrison once said in an interview that he was a fervent player, but he knows himself more than anyone else. He is an obsessive player, he just happens to know and understand how the game is being played. According to him, football is physical game, and in every game he always plays it as if it was his last chance to play.
Though Harrison’s reputation is not as good as his performance, according to his coach, he was the best player he ever handled. He won 2 Super Bowls with Patriots but he missed 10 playoffs in 2008 after his muscles in his right thigh were injured, prior to being suspended in 2007 for using a forbidden substance which was later on found to be a Human growth hormone, injected on him to be able to recover fast from his thigh injury. These reasons limited him for playing only 31 games over the previous 4 seasons. After recovering from the injury and suspension, Harrison still considers coming back and playing again, this unapologetic man as what he calls himself computed all the fines he paid through out his career amounting to $200, 000.
Harrison’s revelation about his feelings regarding his retirement is very unusual. He realized a lot of things, but the most important thing he was quoted saying was that he admitted that on most of his games, he simply forgot he was a human being!
